In some amazing
recipes, a cabbage is one of the main ingredient and it make those foods look
tastier. Let’s say in soup, salad, slaw, kraut, tempura, or stir-fry, you will
need a cabbage to enrich the flavor or garnish the course. Sadly, many people still
don’t know how to shred cabbage rightly.
They just shredding it nonchalantly,
even the stalk is still on it! Ew! Isn’t it a litlle bit, uhm, gross?
For you all amateur
home chefs, here’s a tip about how to shred cabbage easily.
What You Need: 1. A Cabbage
2. A sharp knife or chef knife
3. A cutting board
How to shred cabbage:
1. Remove any discoloured and
ugly-looking outside leaves. Throw them away, because
we don’t need them.
2. Remove bottom of the
cabbage. The shredding process will much easier if you
remove it.
3. Cut the cabbage into four
pieces. Firstly, place the cabbage in cutting board,
little press and cut it into half, then cut each half again so you have four
wedges now.
4. Remove the stalk in every
pieces. Put your hand against the stalk, and slowly
cut it while you press the other part down. Make sure you clean it perfectly
because this stalk has bitter taste on it.
5. Shred the cabbage. Use the cutting board again, cut wedges to the required size. Slicing
along the vertical edge will make longer shreds, slicing along the horizontal
will make shorter lengths.
6. Wash the cabbage. Don’t forget to wash the cabbage into pouring water. After that, you
can start cooking or keep it in refrigerator. But, use it as soon as possible
after shredding to get a better taste and texture.
It
is simple and easy, isn’t it? It just take a minute to shredding a cabbage
